Umar Gul, Pakistan’s T20 World Cup-winning fast bowler, is starting his career as a coach at the end of his playing career. Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Quetta Gladiators has appointed him as the bowling coach. Gul is one of the best bowlers of all time in T20 cricket. He is entering the Quetta camp to replace legendary all-rounder Abdul Razzak in the sixth edition of the PSL.
Quetta owner Nadeem Omar is thrilled to appoint such a person as the team’s coach. He said, ‘Gul’s vast experience will help the team. Speakers like Mohammad Hasnain, Nasim Shah and Usman Shinwari will benefit from his appointment.
‘He has ruled the T20 format for many years. Who could be better than him to replace him! It’s like getting a family member back. I would also like to thank Razzak for his long service to the team, ”added the Quetta owner.
Gul, 38, has taken 173 wickets in 47 Tests, 179 in 130 ODIs and 65 wickets in 60 Twenty20 matches for Pakistan. The pacer has played for Quetta Gladiators in the first two seasons of PSL. He himself is happy to be back in the familiar house.
