Century with 36 balls. New Zealand captain Sophie Devine holds the record for the fastest century in a women’s T20. He achieved this feat in a domestic cricket match in Dunedin on Thursday. Devine batted for the Wellington Blaze in the match and thwarted the bowling attack of Otago Sparks. The batsman hit nine sixes and six boundaries to lead the team to a 10-wicket victory.
Didn’t stop even after the century. The Kiwi captain remained unbeaten on 106 off 36 balls with two boundaries. He broke West Indies’ Diendro Dotin’s record for the fastest century. Dotin set the record for the fastest century in South Africa in 2010. In that match, the Caribbean batsman touched a magic figure of three figures from 36 balls.
“I was really nervous in the morning,” said Devine, overwhelmed by the record for the fastest century. When you have a long break from the game, you must be nervous after returning. So I feel good to be able to spend some time on the field.
